The Fort Bend Central Appraisal District has announced that 145,656 taxpayer accounts were recently mailed incorrect property tax assessment notices for 2015. In some cases, the amount shown may be more than double the correct amount.
Officials at the tax office have stated that the flawed mailing was due to human error during processing, and that the appraisal district will be mailing new notices to all of the affected tax payer accounts. The new notices are scheduled to be mailed by May 12, 2015.
Tax payers are allowed 30 days to file protests after receiving property appraisals. To make up for the delay incurred by this incorrect mailing, the tax appraisal district has announced that the protest date will be extended to June 12 for the affected accounts. The new protest date will be printed on the corrected appraisal notices.
