Infrastructure Projects Boosting Fort Bend Growth

Fort Bend County, Texas, is undergoing significant infrastructure improvements to support its rapid growth and enhance connectivity within the region. These projects are essential in accommodating the increasing population and the expanding business environment.

One of the major infrastructure projects is the Highway 36A expansion. Proposed in 2016, this project aims to add 65 miles to the existing highway, improving transportation corridors across Brazoria, Fort Bend, and Waller Counties. The expansion is expected to relieve congestion, improve freight movement, and provide more hurricane evacuation routes.

Another significant project is the Westpark Tollway extension. This ongoing construction will extend the tollway from FM 723 to the Texas Heritage Parkway, enhancing connectivity and easing traffic flow within the county.

Additionally, Fort Bend County has allocated $70 million for 30 mobility projects.

These include the construction of the Grand Parkway frontage road, which will improve traffic flow and accessibility. The investment will also support segmented frontage road construction along Highland Knolls Drive to the north and FM 1093 to the south on either side of the Grand Parkway.

The strategic location of Fort Bend County, with its proximity to major transportation networks like I-69, Westpark Tollway, and the Fort Bend Toll Road, provides residents with convenient access to Houston and other cities. This connectivity is crucial for both residents and businesses, facilitating the movement of people and goods across the region.

As Fort Bend County continues to grow, these infrastructure projects are vital in ensuring that the region remains an attractive place to live and do business.
